Genetic Engineering Saves The Human Race

In my opinion, parents SHOULD be able to select the traits they want for their children.  That means that they can choose what traits they don't want and the ones they do.  For example, they could decide to take out certain diseases, medical ailments, and they could choose to make their child stronger and smarter, and doing this is part of evolution anyway.

This is probably going to happen--that doctors will be able to do this on humans.  I think there are no ethical problems in genetic engineering.  Engineers are one of the very few groups that are good at regulating themselves.  These doctors rarely make mistakes, and parents would be happy.

Genetic engineering will also vastly improve our life expectancy.  It will eventually make it so that we live longer and healthier lives because doctors will be able to effect the health of the DNA inside our human cells.   Possibly it might be that when we hit a certain age we will just stop aging.

Theoretically you could use this technology to change the eye and hair color of your child.  You could make it so there's not too much diversity or too little diversity.  This technology can be also used to possibly get rid of mental illness and that would mean it would improve our mental health as a society.

This all will lead to incredible medical advances in research.  We will learn a lot about genetics as this field develops.  Personally I would choose one girl and one boy...and they both would be extremely smart and strong.  I might give one blond hair and the other one dark hair.

This would also put us ahead of countries that are not as healthy, our country and other healthy countries with access to this kind of technology will be stronger, smarter and healthier.  This is one of many medical steps in the right direction...and shows you the great faith we should have in engineers!    So bloggers, look forward to my next blog.

  1. Kiel - I think genetic engineering can bring some much needed results for treating diseases and keeping children from suffering unnecessarily from genetically caused ailments or conditions. It would be nice to see effort put into ways to improve the human race and not get into ethical difficulties by creating problems for future generations. I hope the engineers involved are up to the faith you put in them. Love DAD
